Software Training Company Overcomes Problems With Upgrades

A privately held medical software company in Southwestern Ohio needed to find a better way to revise and print their constantly changing medical software curriculum, which they packaged as training reference books.

The Challenge

This medical software company created, sold, and installed (with training) medical software programs, primarily to nursing homes. They had created twenty different training books for their various medical software applications, and had several challenges:
  • Every time there were either changes to an existing package or a new package, they had to either create or update the training books quickly so they could effectively train their clients.
  • They needed a way to produce professional looking, timely changes to already-printed tapebound books.
  • Trying to anticipate the annual training needs to advance print the books for twenty courses without running out of books or ending up with obsolete books with loose inserted pages.

The Solution

A Miami Systems account executive suggested Digital Printing/Print On Demand to this medical software company. They were happy with the results:
  • They could order only the number of books needed for each individual training session, when they needed them. Thus, they wouldnt' run short or have too many books, and they didn't have to worry if changes were made between sessions.
  • It was easy to make changes to any of their training programs, just by giving a disk with the changes to the Miami Systems Account Executive or attaching to an e-mail.
  • The account executive would provide a proof copy of the revised books the next day.
  • They projected a more professional image, by not having loose pages which previously occurred whenever they had changes between classes.
